the spirit of Smt. Indira Gandhi, on Monday, June 12th 2006 Smt.Sonia
Gandhi, President, Indian National Congress & Chairperson UPA
was Pleased to inuagurate the IICC. She in her speech inter-alia
said " I am happy to be here today, happy to see what
was initiated twenty two years back at the time of Smt. Indira Gandhi,
finally takes shape. The architecture of the Centre, and the exquisite
tile work on the done are a welcome addition to the diversity of
styles that is characteristic of the Lodhi Road Institutional Area.
Institutions are more than brick and mortar. They are the embodiment
of ideas and sentiments, of hopes and aspiration. Establishing them
is hard work and I am aware of the commitment and endeavour that
has gone into building the India Islamic Cultural Centre."
