Aims & Objectives

The main purpose of India Islamic Cultural Centre is to promote mutual understanding and amity amongst the people of this country and to depict the true face of Islam which is most tolerant, liberal, progressive, rational and forward looking religion besides being based on cardinal principles of human values irrespective of faith, caste, creed and color.
The IICC also provides a forum where scholars from all fields of learning can interact with each other to promote brotherhood, friendship, peace and amity amongst the various cultural and religious groups in India and also to strive for a peaceful co-existence.
To be more precise the aims of the Centre are:
(1) To promote mutual understanding and tolerance amongst the diverse group of citizens of India
(2) To remove misunderstanding about Islam and its teachings.
(3) To create awareness about of Islamic ethos and culture.
(4) To assist in the creation of a ethical society based on tolerance, universal brotherhood, love and charity.
(5) To promote mutual understanding, appreciation and amity between the people of India and those of the Islamic world through a mutual exchange of thoughts and ideas.
(6) To realize these objectives, the Centre shall endeavor
(7) To undertake, organize and facilitate studies, symposia, lectures and research on comparative basis in the areas of art, culture and traditional lifestyles of Islamic population in other parts of the globe and spread knowledge, create awareness and appreciation amongst the people of India as a whole.
(8) To promote economic, educational, cultural and social advancement of the Muslim community in India, so that they, with their fellow countrymen, contribute effectively in making India an integrated, progressive and tolerant Society.
(9) To undertake and promote the publication of newsletters, journals, books and research papers for the exposition of cultural patterns and values prevailing in different parts of the world.
(10)To establish and maintain a cell of Information Technology, a well stocked Library and Research Center to promote the objectives of the IICC.
(11) To cooperate and interact with other institution and interested bodies for the purpose of promoting understanding amongst the people of different cultures in India and abroad.

President Speaks

India Islamic Cultural Centre is the outcome of thinking and planning Of renowned personalities of the Community & noble hearted Scholars Of National Repute. During the Celebration of Completion of 1400th Century of Hijarat 0f PROPHET MOHAMMED “PBUH” the whole World was celebrating this gracious event. Justice Mohd. Hidayatulla Former Vice President of India Janab Hakim Abdul Hamid sb.,late Chaudhary Mohd. Arif Sb., Mufti Atiq-ur-Rahman Sb. along with many Others approached the then prime Minister of India Smt.Indira Gandhi for the celebration. She very warmly contributed handsome amount for the celebration Of the completion of 1400th of Hijrah.

Smt. Indra Gandhi was a source of inspiration of the Members of India Islamic Culture Centre who allotted two bungalows at No.87 & 88 lodhi Road and also gladly laid the foundation stone of IICC on 24th August 1984. She was in fact impressed by the idea to buildup such an institution which could promote understanding among the people of different religion and help the promotion of the cause of national integration.

Following the spirit of Smt. Indra Gandhi Smt. Sonia Gandhi, president, Indian National Congress & Chairperson UPA was pleased to inaugurate the IICC on Monday, June 12th 2006. She in her speech inter-alia said “I am happy to be here today happy to see what was initiated twenty two years back at the time of Smt. Indra Gandhi, finally takes shape. The architecture of the Centre, and the exquisite tile work on the dome are a welcome addition to the diversity of styles that is characteristic of the Lodhi Road Institutional Area.
Institutions are more than brick and mortar . They are the embodiment of ideas and sentiments,of hopes and aspirations. Establishing them is hard work and Iam aware of of the commitment and endeavour that has gone into building the India Islamic Cultural Centre.”

it is interesting to note that India Islamic Cultural Centre has become a Hub of Social, Cultural & Educational activities . Seminars, Symposiums, Debates, Discussion and National festivals and functions are frequently organized in the premises of IICC. To address these auspicious events, the eminent personalities of the country pay visit to the Centre.

This Centre is an embodiment of India’s mixed culture. It has become an important entity in the Capital city and its marvelous structure is being admired by all those who have seen it. It’s a synthesis of Indian & Islamic Culture.

India Islamic Culture & ethos to the people of India and the world. It’s gradually acquiring an international status as scholars and many great personalities not only from many Islamic countries but several other countries have highly appreciated the functioning of India Islamic Cultural Centre.

IICC is paying special attention for the empowerment of youth, particularly those belonging to minority community & economically weaker sections of society.

The Centre has started a ‘Civil Services Coaching Programme which will be imparting coaching for IAS, and other examinations conducted by UPSC. It will be an important service to our young men who are aspiring to join Civil services . The Centre has a well equipped library too.

Smt. Indra Gandhi was impressed by the idea to create such an Institution which could promote understanding amongst people of different religions and help the cause of National Integration. She was pleased to lay the foundation stone of this noble Institution on 24th August 1984.
